I. China to import Fish meal and Fish oil from India:
Hu Wei, The Vice Minister, General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), led a six member representatives to India in order to discus upon various issues of market access for different products like milk and milk products, agricultural products like soy meal, fruits and vegetables, tobacco and pharmaceutical products for which India has been seeking market access from China.
The protocol on hygiene and inspection requirements for the export of fish oil from China to India was signed.
The signing of the protocol between the two countries covers the way for export of Indian fish oil and fish meal to China, as China imports fish oil to the tune of US$ 143.29 million and on the other hand it imports fish meal to the tune of US$ 263.43 million.
II. Branding Indian ayurveda for the global market:
At the Global Ayurveda Summit in Kochi, the director of the Department of Commerce, Government of India, Ms Sangeeta Saxena said, "Kerala as a leader in the ayurveda industry should articulate the advantages, opportunities and challenges of the ayurveda sector to establish India's leadership positions in the global market for ayurveda."
The idea of branding Indian ayurveda for the global market was a good idea and Department of Commerce would be happy to support the move if there was a description of problem if any from the industry.
III. Cabinet Approves Policy to Double Farm Exports to $60 Billion by 2022:
The Cabinet approved a policy to boost exports of farm commodities such as tea, coffee, fruits and vegetables, Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu said.
The policy was approved at a cabinet meeting and is targeted at helping the country significantly increase exports of an array of farm goods but also seeks to avoid ad hoc, knee-jerk policy decisions often aimed at keeping out food inflation.
The government looks at doubling India's farm exports to $60 billion by 2022 by integrating with "the global value chain at the earliest," Prabhu told a news conference.
The idea behind the policy was to help farmers cash in on export opportunities, he said.
IV. Tripura Exports its Queen Pineapple's to Dubai:
The first consignment of Tripura’s ‘Queen Pineapples’ was flagged off by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to Dubai this Sunday. The shipment weighing 1 ton was delivered via New Delhi on a Spice Jet aircraft.
The government has reached an agreement to dispatch one ton of pineapples to Dubai on a weekly basis, boosting the trade relations between both the countries.
